The Federal Government has commenced the release of individual country strategies as part of its Australia in the Asian Century policy initiative.
The Country Strategies being released cover Australia’s five major relationships in Asia: China, India, Indonesia, Japan and South Korea.
These strategies outline a vision of how Australia’s relationship with each country should continue to grow to 2025 across the community, business and government.
These country strategies take forward the objective of the Australia in the Asian Century White Paper: for Australia to build stronger and more comprehensive relationships with countries across the region.
Because of their size, economic links with Australia, and strategic and political influence in the region and globally, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea were identified as the initial priority countries for the development of country strategies.
